Quote of the month, year or galactic standard week (whichever comes first):

"To be 'sociable' - to talk merely because convention forbids silence, to rub against one another in order to create the illusion of intimacy and contact: what an example of la condition humaine. Exhausting, naturally, like any improper use of our spiritual resources. In miniature, one of the many ways in which mankind successfully acts as its own scourge--in the hell of spiritual death."
- Dag Hammarskjöld; translated from Swedish by Leif Sjöberg & W.H. Auden.

News

In the course of a week (the week of November 10th, 2009), I discovered that the old saying about bad things happening in three's is totally correct. One family member is having to talk to hospice, while another has a fractured sternum that isn't healing (resulting in the need to see a surgical specialist), and finally the third is in the hospital after dropping 20 pounds in 2 weeks from severe abdominal/stomach problems that is either severe "ulcerative" or just (just?) a massive colon infection.

*sigh*

--- July 18th, 2008 - The Dark Knight was released. You should see it because it completely rocks.
